William A. Frauenheim, Jr.

William A. “Bill” Frauenheim, Jr., 97, formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, while a resident of Mahoning Valley Nursing Home in Lehighton, Pennsylvania.

Bill was born on November 27, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of the late William A. Frauenheim, Sr. and Catherine (Waechter) Frauenheim. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Alice Mary (Alston) Frauenheim, who passed on March 19, 2018; his brother, Richard Frauenheim; and his sisters, Catherine Hospodor and Suzanne Lang. Bill was the great-grandson of the founders of the Pittsburgh Brewing Company, makers of Iron City Beer.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Daderko, wife of Stephen; his sons, William A. Frauenheim III and wife Patricia, and Stephen J. Frauenheim and wife Susan; his grandchildren, Lauren (Dylan) Baker, Jack (Jill) Frauenheim, John (Jordan) Frauenheim, and Ryan Frauenheim; and his great-grandchildren, Lily Ann, William A. IV, and Sawyer Jane.

Bill was a graduate of Shaler High School, where he played on the school’s inaugural varsity baseball team. He later attended Duquesne University, majoring in history.

A proud Korean War veteran, Bill honorably served as a Medic and Corporal of the Guard in the 171 st EVAC Hospital. He remained deeply committed to his fellow veterans as a devoted member of Shaler American Legion Post 785, Shaler VFW Post 9199, and the Korean War Veterans Association of Western Pennsylvania.

Bill enjoyed a long and successful career in paper sales and was a devout member of St. Ursula Catholic Church. He was a dedicated youth baseball coach, a gifted storyteller, and possessed an uncanny memory for sports history, especially when it came to his beloved Pittsburgh college and professional sports teams.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on March 5, 2026, at noon at St. Ursula’s Roman Catholic Church, 3937 Kirk Avenue, Allison Park, Pennsylvania 15101.

Visitation for friends and family will be held on March 5, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Neely Funeral Home, 220 Mount Royal Boulevard, Glenshaw, Pennsylvania 15116.

Local visitation will be held at E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. on March 3, 2026, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Interment will take place at Union Dale Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
