William "Bill" R. Klotz, 80, of Rush Township, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
A 1963 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Bill was a powerhouse on the field as a starting member of the undefeated 1962 football team—a competitive spirit he carried throughout his life.
Bill dedicated 30 years to the Lehighton School District as a respected educator and coach for the Indians' wrestling and football programs. Off the mat and field, he was a Third Degree Judo black belt and a passionate curator of WWII history as well as an avid scuba diver. Many will remember Bill for his iconic presence: cruising on his Harley in his signature helmet or taking long walks with his loyal Doberman.
He is survived by his son, William, and wife Melanie; his cherished grandchildren, Ava Grace, Jacob Bauer, and Caleb Mason; and his dear companion, Joanne Hafer. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late William Bauer Klotz and Doris L. Klotz-Yusella
Private arrangements entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 655 East broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252. (570) 668-2550
