Teresa Carmella (Solon) Rokita, born May 4, 1951, in Hazleton, PA, transitioned peacefully on January 13, 2026, at age 74, surrounded by close friends and loved ones at St. Luke’s Hospital–Carbon Campus. A long-time resident of Lansford, PA, Teresa devoted her career to caring for others as an LPN at St. Luke's Manor in Hazleton and later shared her talents as a seamstress at Kidde Kloes in Lansford. She was a member of the Hazleton High School Class of 1969.
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Rose (D’Amico) Solon and Henry J. Solon, as well as Teresa and Paul's children, Jason and Rosemary Rokita.
She is survived by her husband Paul J. Rokita; her brother Mark Solon and wife Jean (Sauer); and her niece Katie Solon and husband Luke Brown. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Lorraine (Rokita) Guardini and husband Frank; her niece Terri (Guardini) Mirarchi and husband Jimmy; her nephew Frankie Guardini and wife Becky; as well as her cherished grand-nieces and nephews: Nicholas Mirarchi, Gianna Mirarchi, Dominic Guardini, and Jackson Guardini. Teresa is also lovingly remembered by a dear family friend Kathy (Pavell) Mundy, Hazleton.
Teresa filled her life with color—especially her favorite, green—and surrounded herself with music from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s.With an encyclopedic knowledge of artists and songs, she could always be counted on to share a tune, a memory, or a dance. The Beatles were always a favorite. A devoted fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions, Joe Paterno, and her steadfast Pittsburgh Steelers, Teresa brought enthusiasm and loyalty to every game day.
She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford.
Above all, Teresa loved being in the company of friends and family. Her warmth, laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11 am at the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, 655 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Calling hours will be held from 9:30 until time of the service. Inurnment will follow at Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 104 E Bertsch St, Lansford, PA 18232.
