Obituary

Susan E. Lazur, of McAdoo, a woman of profound strength, determination, and love, passed away on July 4, 2026, at St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, at the age of 91.

Susan’s life was defined by her incredible resilience. Raised in orphanages in Alveria and Orwigsburg, she initially felt called to the convent but chose instead to dedicate herself to supporting her siblings. That choice birthed a relentless work ethic that defined her entire life. From her days in Tami, Gerard textile mills & Aquilla to her retirement from Bimbo Bakeries, Susan worked tirelessly to provide a beautiful life for her family. She had a brilliant mind and was gifted with being able to figure things out and solve problems with ingenuity. She was also blessed with positivity, perseverance, and a good sense of humor.

Known to many as a wonderful cook and baker, especially for family holiday celebrations, Susan also poured her love into her beautiful crochet work. She also enjoyed canning, growing flowers, and spending time with her Chihuahua, Peanut, her granddaughters, and her family. She was very hard working, gifted with insight, attentive to detail, and helpful to everyone she met. She was small and mighty, but had a heart of gold that surpassed everything else. Her greatest legacy, however, is the fierce fighting spirit she passed down to her daughter and granddaughters.

She was greeted in heaven by her parents, Anthony and Susan (Gretzik) Yasso; her twin brother, Anthony; her brother, John Yasso; her ex-husband Stevie; sisters, Katherine Grinbaum, Irene Taylor, Mildred Busch, Dolores Yanacek, and an infant sister, Margaret.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her daughter, Susan D. Brennan, wife of Dr. John; her beloved granddaughters, Susan and Marianne Brennan; and her extended family of nieces and nephews.
