Ronald R. Hoppes

Ronald R. Hoppes, formerly of Royersford, Pennsylvania, passed away on September 12, 2026, at Maple Shade Meadows in Nesquehoning. He was 91 years of age.

Born on July 13, 1935, in Palmerton, Pennsylvania, Ronald was the son of the late Robert and Lela (Kistler) Hoppes. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Boyer) Hoppes, and by his brother, Gary Hoppes.

Ronald was a graduate of Tamaqua High School and went on to attend Drexel University, where he earned his degree in design engineering. He was employed as a Senior Development Engineer at Honeywell in Fort Washington. He held numerous US and Canadian patents and won many awards. His education and professional life reflected a steady commitment to his field and to the work he carried out over the course of many years.

Ronald was one of the top antique clock experts in the world. He did research and clock restoration for The Rosenbach Museum, Atwater Kent, Museum, The Franklin Institute, Alfred DuPont Estate, The American Philosophical Society, Drexel University and others.

Ron was also was the author of "The Most Important Clock In America' Published by APS and donated to the society as well as the co-author of the book titled " Dr Rittenhouse, Astronomer, Clock Maker, Politician".

He is survived by his brother, Kevin Hoppes, and Kevin’s wife, Ilisa, of Allentown; nieces and nephews. As his family remembers him, they also honor the lasting place he held in their lives and the many years and memories they shared together.

A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 2066 West Penn Pike, New Ringgold Pennsylvania 17960. A funeral service will be held at 6 o'clock p.m. at the funeral home. Private Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery Pottstown, Pennsylvania.
