Roberta (Diggons) Behrmann
Roberta "Bobby" (Diggons) Behrmann, 97, formerly of New Ringgold, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, while a guest of Complete Care at Lehigh in Macungie, Pennsylvania.
Born on January 19, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Ellen (Murtaugh) Diggons. Roberta was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, John P. Behrmann; her beloved son, Dennis (John D.) Behrmann; four brothers; and six sisters.
Bobby was known for her independent spirit and lived a life defined by hard work, service, creativity, and love for her family. A 1947 graduate of Bushwick High School in Brooklyn, she and her husband proudly owned and operated John's Bar and Grill in Middle Village, New York, for 36 years before retiring in 1989.
Throughout her life, Bobby was dedicated to helping others. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and actively supported the National Democratic Party. She was committed to community service volunteering with many charitable organizations including Meals on Wheels and after-school programs where she taught children to sew and quilt. Using her talent for crocheting, she lovingly created hats and blankets for ill and premature babies, which she donated to local hospitals to comfort children and their families during difficult times. In recognition of her many years of volunteer service, Bobby was honored with Presidential Volunteer Service Awards.
A talented and creative woman, Bobby found joy in painting, quilting, crocheting, and a variety of other crafts. Family and friends were often the recipients of her handmade creations, each one reflecting the care and thoughtfulness she put into everything she made.
Those who knew Bobby will remember her sharp wit, generosity, determination, and the pride she took in her family. She found tremendous joy in being a grandmother and great-grandmother. To her great-grandchildren, she was simply "GiGi," a title she wore with pride. Whether celebrating their accomplishments, holidays, sharing stories, playing games, or simply spending time together, being GiGi brought her immense joy. They will remember her for her love, time together, home-made cookies, laughter, stories, encouragement, and the handmade treasures she gifted them.
Surviving are her daughter, Laura Gracely, widow of Brian Gracely; grandchildren, John Philip Vennera and his wife, Joell, Ryan Behrmann and his wife, Linett, Alex Behrmann and his wife, Brittany, and Eric Behrmann and his wife, Demetra; great-grandchildren Anthony Vennera, Alexis Vennera, Fiona Behrmann, Tyler Behrmann, and Luciano Behrmann. Roberta is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will greatly miss her.
Bobby's service, creativity, strong spirit, and generosity will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched, the family she treasured, and the countless acts of service she performed throughout her remarkable 97 years.
