Rita Marie Benek, 68, of Summit Hill, passed away on August 14, 2026.

Born on June 27, 1958, in Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late Bernadine (Wye) Mikulsky. Rita was a proud graduate of Panther Valley High School, Class of 1976.

Rita was the beloved wife of Richard Benek, with whom she shared 44 years. Together, they built a life centered on family, love, and devotion.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving children: her daughter, Alura Benek Shubeck, wife of Aric, of Mohnton; and her son, Andrew Benek, husband of Brittany, of Palmerton. She is also survived by her cherished grandsons, George and James.

A dedicated homemaker, Rita found her greatest joy in caring for her family. She especially cherished the time she spent with her grandsons, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. 

She enjoyed reading and playing Animal Crossing, and she loved attending live music and theater performances with her family and friends. Rita was also a proud Scout and JROTC mom, always supporting and encouraging her children in their pursuits.

Rita will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. in St. Joseph of the Panther Valley Catholic Church , 462 West Ludlow Street, Summit Hill with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m..

Interment will take place at Sky-View Memorial Park.

Rita’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
