Richard J. Yanochko, 61, of Weatherly, passed away from multiple health issues on June 21, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton campus, just one day before what would have been his 62nd birthday. Born on June 22, 1964, in Hazleton, PA.
Richard was the beloved husband of Lisa Yanochko. He and his wife resided in Weatherly for 32 years. Together, they shared forty loving years of marriage with support and companionship through all of life's seasons. Richard was the son of the late Joseph and Cecelia (Senick) Yanochko, Sr.
Richard was dedicated to serving others, he was the Maintenance Supervisor at Center City Apartments, Hazleton and assisted other locations throughout the company. Beyond his professional life, Richard gave of his time to his community as a proud volunteer with the Citizens Fire Company #1 of Weatherly, and an EMT with the Greater Weatherly Ambulance Association.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa, as well as his nephew Louis Darraugh and his wife Jacqueline. He is also survived by great nephews Justin Nemshick and his wife Ronelle, Brandon Darraugh and his fiance Jessica, and Logan Darraugh; great nieces Megan Darraugh;Julia Darraugh, Ava Darraugh and Olivia Darraugh. Along with his great-great nephew Nolan Darraugh and great-great niece Lainey Nemshick. Several other nephews, a niece and many cousins also mourn his passing, reflecting the bonds of family that enriched Richard’s life. He was also the godfather of Cassandra Ignatavich and Andrew Raisner.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother, and a nephew, Shawn Darraugh. While they are missed, their memory and influence remain part of Richard’s legacy.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a viewing to be held Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street, Weatherly, PA 18255. Arrangements are under the care of the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Citizens Fire Company #1 of Weatherly.
Richard will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his community, his hardwork, his love of the outdoors, visiting the Tampa Fl area and cruise vacations. He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness, service, and loyalty.
