Patricia Anne "Patti"
Turton
September 29, 1954 – May 6, 2026
Patricia Anne (Rooney) Turton, 71, of Rush Township, Tamaqua, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.
Born on September 29, 1954, in Bordeaux, France, while her father served in the U.S. Army, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Mae (Waters) Rooney. Patti was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 32 years, Brian A. Turton (2021), and her niece, Sophia Lane Osenbach.
A 1972 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Patti dedicated much of her life to the local school community. She retired after 22 years in the maintenance department at Tamaqua Area High School and previously worked in the cafeteria at Marian Catholic. More than just an employee, Patti viewed her work as a mission to mentor local youth. She took immense joy in building lifelong bonds with students and staff, always celebrating their accomplishments as if they were her own.
Her commitment to service extended to her faith and community. A lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday School for 17 years. She was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack #778.
Patti lived a life of vibrant activity. She was a doting grandmother who never missed a grandchild's game or social event. Whether she was decorating her home, crafting gift baskets for local fundraisers, or enjoying lunch with her "posse" of lifelong friends, she never sat idle. She loved trips to the beach, strolls through Jim Thorpe, live music, and the occasional shopping trip.
Surviving are sons, Jonathan E. Tewskbury and his wife Nicole "Nikki", Justin Tewksbury and his wife Janelle; sister, Lou Ann Rooney and her companion Allen Masters; grandchildren, Madison, Victoria, Athena, and Abby.
