Mr. Livio Victor Joseph Laurenti, age 93, of Mountain Ave., Tamaqua, Pa., died Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at St. Lukes Miners Memorial Medical Ctr. in Coaldale, Pa. .
Born in Reynolds, he was the son of the late Angelo and Philomena (DeCindio) Laurenti. Livio moved with his family at the age of 4 to Pogogennafo, Acquilla Province in Italy returning to Tamaqua at the age of 9.
Working in the mines as a young man, he became an expert mechanic. Livio managed the Merit, which became the Pioneer, and then operated as Skat Gas Station in Tamaqua for 38 years.
As A member of the Trinity U.C.C. of Tamaqua,Livio served on Consistery, volunteering as chef for 10 years in the church kitchen after his retirement.
An active menber of the Tamaqua Italian Club, where he played clarinet, and accordian in a band.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he always put others first. His charity, generosity, dedication and hard work always provided for others in need. As an expert mechanic, he helped start many disabled vehicles be it stranger or neighbor. Whether animal or man he felt it most important to provide for them before himself.

Jan S. Laurenti of Tamaqua;
Four grandchildren
Ten great-grandchildren;
Preceded in death by his wife Hazel A. "Honey" (Schaefer) Laurenti on Oct. 17, 2006; sisters, Mrs. Mary Piacentini, and Mrs. Laura Faust; son-in-laws William "Bill" Klingaman on July 13, 2009, Robert Lee Raeder, Sr. on Sept. 14, 1990.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, August 5, 2011.
Funeral Services Sat. August 6, 2011 at 11 o'clock A.M. from Trinity U.C.C. 22 Lafayette Street Tamaqua, Pa. 18252, Rev. David W. Grant to officiate.
A morning viewing will be held at the church from 9:30 to time of servce.
Interment will take place at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Tamaqua.
