Kenneth W. Mehlig, 86 years of age, of Weatherly, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Forest Hills Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Elizabethtown New Jersey, on January 7, 1940, Ken was the son of the late Robert and Mary (Smith) Mehlig. He was a graduate of Weatherly High School and dedicated many years of service to the maintenance department of Weatherwood, the Carbon County Home, until his retirement.

He was a man who found joy in the simple things in life. Whether he was out for a ride in one of his freshly cleaned up mini vans, stopping by the gas station, the pizza shop, dollar store, senior center or driving past the homes of family and friends, he enjoyed every mile and every familiar face along the way. He took pride in keeping his vehicles spotless and loved the comfort of his daily routines.

He never passed up a good cheeseburger and an ice cream from the park, or a few drinks at the firehouse. He looked forward to picnics, holiday gatherings, and any chance to sit around a table with the people he loved. Pretty much any event where there was food involved. More than anything, he simply enjoyed being together, sharing food, and laughter.

He also had a deep love for wildlife and animals, especially the many loyal dogs who were part of his life over the years, including his beloved Dobermans and Rottweilers, along with a few cats who held a special place in his heart. His dogs were family to him, and no doubt there’s a happy reunion happening with all of them again.One of the things family and friends will remember was the way he said goodbye. Before leaving, he would always remind those around him to “be good.” Those simple words carried warmth, care, and love.He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.

He was reunited in death with his beloved wife, Sandra (Pascoe) Mehlig; his son, Jeffrey Mehlig.

Ken’s legacy lives on through his children: Shawn Gimbi wife of Rich, Tracy Ward wife of Joe, Lynn Coxe wife of the late Nelson Coxe III, Colleen Frye wife of Gene Miller, Kenneth B. Mehlig and his wife Nicole. He is also survived by his brothers, Martin Mehlig and his wife Nina, David Mehlig and his wife Sherry, Brother, Robert Mehlig; sister, Geraldine Younker; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Ken's life will be held on Wednesday May 20, 2026 at 7 o'clock P.M. from the funeral home. A visitation will take place from 5:00 P.M. until the time of services.
