Kathryn I. Lehatto, 99, of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, was surrounded by family in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on July 24, 2025 when she was called home to her Heavenly Father. She lived a life grounded in love, faith, and family. Those who knew her will remember her as a loving mother, a proud, adoring grandmother, and a woman who lived life fully and fearlessly.
Born in Tamaqua on June 29, 1926, Kathryn was the daughter of the late Joseph G. and Lydia (Evans) Mucklow. A 1944 graduate of Tamaqua High School, Kathryn brought humor and heart to every interaction.
Kathryn dedicated herself to serving others, most notably as Director of Tamaqua Meals on Wheels for many years, a role she took great pride in. Earlier in life, she worked at Tung-Sol in Weatherly. Her deep Christian faith was central to her life. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Tamaqua, where she sang in the choir and participated in the ladies’ groups. Later, she became a member of Zion Church Lewistown Valley, where her faith continued to grow in fellowship.
Kathryn found joy in staying busy and being surrounded by people. She loved going out to eat, shopping, decorating her home with her cherished curtains, playing a fiercely competitive game of cards, and beating her family in Scrabble. Additionally she enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and she was an avid reader. Kathryn cherished the laughter and connection that came from time spent around a table with family and friends. She was had a quick witted sense of humor that never dulled.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Lehatto; daughter, Kathy Fulmer; son, Joseph A. Lehatto; and sister, Betty Rudolph.
Kathryn is survived by her daughters, Sharon Monahan and her husband Christopher of Harrisburg, and Karen R. Wagner and her husband Craig of Lewistown Valley. Additionally her grandchildren, Alexandra Conforti, wife of the late Peter, Julianna Wagner, Elizabeth Wagner, Lydia Howe and her husband Cody, Maddie Monahan and her fiancée Andrew Humm, Riley Monahan, Joseph Lehatto and his wife Athena, Amy Lehatto, and Kerry Fulmer; great-grandchildren, Abram, Nora, Everly, Joey, Vicki, Anthony, Brent, and Skyler; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Zion Evangelical Church of the Lewistown Valley, 489 Valley Road, Tamaqua, PA. Interment will follow at Sky-View Memorial Park in Hometown.
