John D. Wandzilak, Jr., aged 85, of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, at Maple Shade Meadows in Nesquehoning. He was the husband of Beatrice Wandzilak, with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage on February 8th.

Born on December 6, 1940, in Reading, Pennsylvania, John was the beloved son of John D. and Marguerite (Abeln) Wandzilak. He pursued higher education passionately and earned a master's degree in education from Kutztown University, laying the foundation for a meaningful career dedicated to teaching.

John devoted many years to the Panther Valley School District, where he was an English and Russian teacher, inspiring countless students with his knowledge and dedication. His commitment to education and the impact he had on his students' lives remain an enduring legacy.

Beyond his professional life, John held a deep appreciation for his passions. A proud member of the NRA, he found enjoyment in target practice, trap shooting and the meticulous craft of bullet making. He was a proud member of the Orwigsburg Rod and Gun Club, among others. His enthusiasm for dirt bikes, motorcycles, horseback riding and travelling brought him joy as he was able to visit 49 states. He also had an affection for the wildlife that visited his yard.

John is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice; his son, Paul Wandzilak and his wife Ann Marie; and his son Steven Wandzilak. He was also the grandfather to Zachary and his partner, Alyssa and their son, his great-grandson, Kaysen; and Lauren and her husband, Carmine. His family circle extends to his brother, Philip Wandzilak and his wife Barbara of Reading; and his sister Delores Hoffman, also of Reading.
