Joan C. Kochin, 87 years of age of Weatherly, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was a guest at the Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Berwick, Pennsylvania.

Born on Saturday, August 19, 1939, in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Oswald and Marguerite (Ferry) Clark. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Raymond L. Kochin, and her siblings Oswald Clark, Neil Clark, Freddy Clark, John “Jacky” Clark, Marguerite Oster, and Anna Marie Clark. Joan was the baby of the family and the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A 1957 graduate of H.H.S., Joan began her career as a practical nurse at Doctor’s Hospital in Philadelphia where she was affectionately known as “Red.” She went on to marry the love of her life, Ray Kochin. Shortly after, Joan became the Beautiful Matriarch of her family, the glue that always held them together no matter what the situation. She raised her children to be loving and forgiving and that family was what was most important. Joan was full of unconditional love for everyone. The world is a much better place because she was in it. She will be missed by many but will always be our Special Angel. Her greatest joy in life was being a Mother, Grandmother, and a Great-Grandmother.

Joan was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Weatherly. Throughout her life, she enjoyed taking trips to the casinos in Atlantic City, traveling alongside her husband, Ray, shopping at Boscov’s, going to the movies, and enthusiastically rooting for the Philadelphia Phillies. A devoted Elvis Presley fan, Joan also cherished the companionship of her faithful cat, Elvis.

Joan is survived by her sister-in-law Marlene Clark, who she considered her sister, and her best friend, Sylvia Peterson. In addition Joan is survived by; her loving son Raymond R. Kochin and his wife Susan Hughes of Weatherly, and her daughters Colleen L. Walker and her husband Jeff of Berwick, Michele J. Gerhard and her husband Daniel of Weatherly, Marguerite A. “Peggy” Obert and her husband Chad of Weatherly, and Kimberly H. Kochin of Webster, New York. Joan is also survived by her grandchildren, Rayelle, Raymond and his companion Jenn, Gabrielle and her companion Emma, Chad, Kevin and his wife Rianna, Justin, Ashton, Douglas; her great grandchildren, Laila, Scarlett, Lyrik; her nephew and godson, Nicky, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 1 o’clock P.M. from Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. C. 318 Plane Street Weatherly Pennsylvania.

Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 1P.M. with the eulogy at 12:45.

Internment at St. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Cemetery Beaver Meadows Pennsylvania.

Memorials in her name can be made to the Carbon County Animal Shelter, Carbon County Friends of Animals, or a charity of your choice.
