Jean M. Grossmann, 97, of Macungie, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 12, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospice at Cedar Crest.

Born January 25, 1929, in Dover, New Jersey, Jean was the daughter of the late Robert and Florence (Keene) Mandigo. She was a graduate of Dover High School and worked as a secretary before retiring.

Jean was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Alburtis, Pennsylvania. She enjoyed spending time at the beach and was known for teaching mahjong, sharing the game with others and enjoying the friendships it brought.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Grossmann, and her former husband, Charles W. Birdsall.

She is survived by her children, Robert Birdsall and his wife, Deb Wheeler, of New Ringgold; James Birdsall and his wife, Virginia Newton, of New Ringgold; and Irene Bussell and her husband, Les, of New Ringgold; and a stepdaughter, Karen Marchand and her children Nicole, Trisha, and Melissa.

Jean is also survived by her grandchildren, Brian Birdsall, James Birdsall, Jennifer Lynch, Jeffrey Birdsall, Julianne Heisler, Alyssa Melman, and her great-grandchildren, Luke Birdsall, Hazel Birdsall, Tyler Heisler, Thomas Heisler, Emma Heisler, Hunter Heisler, Nathan Melman, Jack Birdsall, Sara Birdsall, Halle Lynch, Weston, and Nolan Birdsall.

Jean will be remembered for the life she shared with her family, her enjoyment of the beach and mahjong, and the many memories she leaves with those who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 17, at 11:00 a.m. at the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Ringgold, Pennsylvania. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
