IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James J.
Ahner
March 7, 1944 – February 15, 2026
James J. Ahner, 81, of Franklin Township, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 7, 1944, in Lehighton, Pennsylvania, James was the cherished son of the late Curtis and Dorothy (Shook) Ahner. Throughout his life, he was known as a hardworking and dedicated individual, serving as the owner of Ahner Excavating for over 40 years. His commitment to his work was evident, but it was the time spent with family and friends that brought him the most joy.
A proud member of the Beaver Rod and Gun Club, James enjoyed the great outdoors. He found happiness in fishing and hunting, but most importantly, he took great delight in his work and his beloved dog, Gracie. His passions reflected his active spirit and love for nature, qualities that endeared him to all who knew him.
James is survived by his wife, Kathleen Carreras, and his children: Curtis, husband of Carol Ahner, of Lehighton; Jason T. Ahner and his companion Melissa Wittman, Lisa Ahner and her companion Scott Lieberman and step daughter Carla Foley.
He was a proud grandfather and is remembered fondly by his seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He also leaves behind his siblings, Kenneth Ahner and Curtis, husband of Ann Ahner, who carry on his legacy of hard work and dedication.
James was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Lou Ahner; his son, Kevin Ross; his brother, Paul Ahner; and his sister, Dale Ahner. Their memories will remain with the family as they continue to honor his remarkable life.
