Edward L. Hill, a passionate outdoorsman, artist, and long-time commercial roofer, died peacefully at his home in Tamaqua on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born in Oakland, California, Edward dedicated his professional life to the roofing trade for more than three decades. Yet, his true passions lay in the quiet concentration of the outdoors and the satisfaction of creation.
A skilled fly fisherman and hunter, Edward spent countless hours in nature. He seamlessly blended his love for fishing with his artistic talent, meticulously hand-tying his own flies. His creativity didn’t stop there; he was a gifted painter and an engineer at heart, finding immense pleasure in building and flying detailed remote-controlled airplanes.
Edward leaves behind a legacy of craftsmanship and a close-knit family. He is survived by his son, Justin E. Hill, and daughter-in-law, Jane Kieffer-Hill with whom he resided, of Tamaqua; his daughter, Melanie Hill; his 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; his brothers, James and Lyle Hill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Leah (Oakley) Hill; and his daughter, Jessica Hill.
Private arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua Pennsylvania 18252. (570) 668-2550.
