David M. Frantz

June 22, 1942 — May 4, 2016

David M. Frantz, 73 years of age, of East Penn Township, Lehighton, PA passed away Wednesday evening at The Summit Blue Mountain Health System in Lehighton, Pennsylvania.

Born in Palmerton, PA, son of the late Harry D. & Marie S.M. (Wehr) Frantz. He was the loving husband of Elaine (Fritz) Frantz with whom he observed their 50th wedding anniversary last Aug. 7, 2015.

He was a 1960 graduate of Lehighton High School, a 1963 graduate of Stevens Trade School with a concentration in cabinetmaking, and served in the Army National Guard from 1963-1970.

Much of his working career was spent in Palmerton, having been employed by Grant Cope & Sons Construction, Butz Lumber Co., and Hager Furniture Co. He also owned and enjoyed working on a small Christmas Tree Farm on the family property.

Dave was a lifelong member of Ben Salem U.C.C. He sang in the church choir for more than 40 years, served as a Sunday School teacher of the High School Class and as the Asst. Supt. of the B.S. Sunday School for several years.

Dave was also a founder of the celebrated Ben Salem Men’s Softball Team ca. 1964 and played first base for the team for more than 15 years. While his sons were active in several youth sports, he helped coach East Penn Little League teams in Ashfield. In addition to his passion for softball and coaching, he especially enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing with family and friends with many trips to Ontario and Wyoming.

Dave was a devoted husband, father, & grandfather who truly cherished spending time with his family.

Along with his wife, Elaine, survivors include son Chris and his wife Debbie of Harleysville, PA; son Bryan and his wife Karen of Columbus, NJ; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Joshua, Sarah and Tyler Frantz; brother, Dennis W. Frantz and his wife Shirley of Lehighton; Sister-in-law, Susan Fritz of Andreas; several nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

Dave's family invites friends and family to join them to share a time of meal and fellowship on Monday May 9, 2016 at the Ben Salem U.C.C. Social Ship Hall 1965 Church Hill Road, New Ringgold, Pennsylvania 18235, at noon.
