Brenda Lee Yeakel, 60, of Andreas, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She demonstrated grace and positivity as she courageously battled a terminal illness.
Born on February 4, 1965, in Palmerton, she was the beloved daughter of the late Kenneth J. and Lois E. (Ahner) Schrantz. As the cherished baby of her large family, Brenda’s sweet disposition and devotion to others were evident from a young age.
She will be deeply missed by her surviving siblings: Robert Schrantz (wife Barbara) of New Cumberland; Ronald Schrantz of Pine, Colorado; Donald Schrantz (wife Glenda) of Nineveh, New York; Charles Schrantz (wife Karen) of Lehighton; and Barry Schrantz of Slatington.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Larry Schrantz, James Schrantz, Carl Schrantz, Vivian Gatens, Susan Ruch, Dorothy Schrantz, and Debra Stehle, who will welcome her with loving arms.
Brenda was a proud 1983 graduate of Lehighton Area High School and furthered her education at Penn State Hazleton. Her professional journey led her to The Times News, where she worked as a dedicated composer for over 30 years, exhibiting great creativity and attention to detail.
Brenda took pride in her work and also made time for the things that brought her joy, such as knitting and exploring yard sales in search of hidden treasures.
The greatest hallmark of Brenda’s life was her nurturing spirit and the passion and care she so selflessly offered to those she loved, especially her family. She was a devoted supporter of her son, Matt, as he participated in various sports. Whether at home, on the field, or on the court, Brenda was an avid supporter of her beloved children in all of their endeavors. She is survived by her son, Matthew Yeakel of Andreas, and her daughter, Meghan McArdle of Akron, who were the true pride and joy of her life.Brenda’s kind-hearted nature and joyful spirit will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her loving neighbors, Carmen and Nancy.
A memorial service to honor Brenda’s life will be held on January 24, 2026, starting at 1:00 p.m., at the Mahoning Valley Volunteer Fire Company, located at 2358 Mahoning Drive West, Lehighton, PA 18235.
