Alice Willetta Nelson

Alice Willetta Nelson, 95 years of age, was a longtime resident of Cherokee County, Iowa. She passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday April 5, 2026 at the home of daughter Karen, in Kaska, Pennsylvania.

Born Saturday, August 16, 1930, in Cherokee, Iowa, she was daughter of the late Edmund Grant and Grace Alice (Hunter) Ralston. Alice was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Lu Verne C. Nelson, son Joe L. Nelson, brothers Doug and Randall Ralston, and sister Mary June Letsche. Surviving are her daughters Karen Putt and her husband Vince and Linnea Castillo and her husband Al, her son Bruce Nelson and his wife Staci, five grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren.

A graduate of Cherokee High School in Cherokee Iowa, Alice lived most of her live south of Marcus and later wintered in Alamo, TX. Alice was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Marcus, IA. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting and knitting, and camping with her family. She was a homemaker and also a cook for Marcus School District.
